Down to the wire

This is the last week before football camp officially begins. I have been scrambling to clear out some nagging injuries from the month I had been away from EHS. Some PFSS, a possible athletic hernia, a few groin & ham strains, and an ankle sprain.

I am beginning my 3rd week of working on the sprain. Not that bad of a sprain, I would say a mild grade 2. But it had been neglected a full month before I got my hands on it. The athlete still has about a 3cm functional dorsiflexion deficit. I will keep you posted.

Joe,

I would like to hear some more on how you're dealing with your PFSS athletes as I will be returning to the high school soon and anticipating seeing several x-c girls with this. The coach loves to run them to death. Those that survive do well, those that don't, either see me, quit and/or choose another sport next year.

Kev- PFSS is tough. Usually a timing issue between the femur & tib. That takes time, but allowing for the osteochondral irritation to calm down takes even longer. And, at this time of the year with the fall sports approaching most coaches just don't have the patience. Good topic for GAIN when things slow down here at EHS.
